Gateway Launches Green Office Project
The Gateway to LA business district has implemented the “Gateway to a Greener LA” initiative for its businesses, with a goal of making the airport business district a greener and more sustainable community for visitors, customers, employees and vendors. The initiative provides assistance to business owners and operators to help them implement green practices that will contribute to long-term sustainability.
Participating businesses are given access to tools and templates to help them establish green programs and set up green policies and procedures. Guidance is provided to help each business establish a Green Team, a Recycling Program, a Water and Energy Conservation Program, and a Waste Reduction Program. A staff training program is also provided to help each business effectively educate its employees on green initiatives and integrate green practices into their daily activities.
Each participating business completes a self-assessment that will measure and evaluate the company’s green practices, and provide suggestions and guidance for continued improvement. Participating businesses will be listed on the Gateway to LA website with recognition incremental improvement.
The program will be in effect from January 1 through June 30, 2011, and is open to all businesses in the Gateway to LA business district at no charge.
