LAX passenger volume reaches 14-year high as Los Angeles tourism surges

From The Los Angeles Times, January 6, 2015

Local tourism in 2014 set its fourth record in as many years, city officials announced Tuesday, and Los Angeles International Airport exceeded its 14-year-old peak for airline travel and is now the nation's second-busiest airport.

The airport handled more than 70 million passengers last year, far surpassing a record of 67.3 million travelers set in 2000, according to economic data released at a news conference at LAX.

Radisson Undergoes Renovation, Prepares for Change of Flags

 

The Radisson Los Angeles Airport will be undergoing a major transformation. It all started with the hotel’s new, great-looking garage that accommodates 2,550 cars. “With the garage, we added a shuttle service and increased the number of buses so that we can pick-up and take guests to the airport every 10 minutes,” said General Manager Nelson Zager, who added that during the rest of 2014, the hotel will address its infrastructure needs, including new cooling towers, air handlers and boilers; modernize guest service elevators and passenger cars; and renovate its lobby, public spaces, meeting and banquet spaces. In addition, the hotel will add a great new restaurant, bar and market while demolishing its old fitness center near the pool to create an event lawn with lush gardens.
