Land for Potential Development

As a result of the planned LAWA and Metro projects in the area, the following land could be utilized for future economic development.

LAX Consolidated Rent-A-Car Center (CONRAC)

As part of LAWA’s ground transportation improvements, a Consolidated Rent-A-Car Center has been proposed for the northern portion of Manchester Square. This facility will house all rental car companies in one location, opening up additional land for economic development.

Anticipated Completion Date: 2022

Metro Maintenance Yard

The maintenance yard is a consolidated facility to serve multiple light-rail lines, performing inspections, repairs, painting, storage, cleaning, and washing of Metro light-rail vehicles.

Intermodal Transportation Facilities (ITF East/West)

As part of LAWA’s ground transportation improvements, Intermodal Transportation Facilities have been proposed to co-locate passenger processing with several transportation modes.

Metro Crenshaw Line

Construction is underway on Metro’s Crenshaw Line, which includes a station at Century and Aviation Boulevards. This 8.5-mile light-rail line will run between Metro's Expo Line and Green Line.

Anticipated Completion Date: 2019

Airport Metro Connector (AMC)

Metro is currently studying a public transportation connection between LAWA's Automated People Mover (APM) and its Crenshaw Line project. This connection, known as the Airport Metro Connector project, will be a combined APM and Crenshaw Line station at 96th Street and Aviation Boulevard to connect passengers to the Central Terminal Area of LAX.

Anticipated Completion Date: 2023

LAX Automated People Mover (APM)

As part of LAWA’s ground transportation improvements, an APM has been proposed to run from a Consolidated Rent-A-Car Center, to an Intermodal Transportation Facility and then to the Central Terminal Area of LAX.

Anticipated Completion Date: 2023

Century/Aviation Metro Station

Metro’s Crenshaw Line will include a new elevated station at Century and Aviation Boulevards.

Anticipated Completion Date: 2019

Century Corridor Streetscape Plan

LAWA and the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, in partnership with the Gateway to L.A. BID, have developed a streetscape plan to improve the pedestrian experience and access to the new light rail line.

Video: Fly Along The Future Crenshaw/LAX Line With This Rendering

With Metro set to work on a new, county-wide set of transit projects (some are already in the works, like the extension of the Purple Line), and with millions of dollars going into these works (thanks to the passing of Measure M), Angelenos are probably curious about what, exactly, these developments will look like.

Metro worked with students from LA Trade Tech Community College to produce a video on the future Crenshaw/LAX Line. The video features a rendering of the entire line, with the audience (us) flying over the tracks.
